Travel Diary: Haiti Part 5

The final pictures I have of this amazing trip! We visited two forts, Fort Jacques and Fort Alexandre. Fort Jacques had an amazing view of the city as well which was used to see if attackers were coming. Fort Alexandre was actually never finished but was cool little space where kids go to play.

I hope you enjoyed my many pictures of my trip to Haiti. I have way more than this but didn't want to flood you all with them. If you want to see more pictures follow me on Instagram at kristinedillon

I also just want to leave with you something I took away from this trip. Haiti is a third world country so you have the rich and the poor but no in between. The poor do in fact live very poor. Some even live off of $1.25 a day. Imagine that, living off of only $1.25 a day!

Learning this fact has pushed me to try my hardest 24/7 and complain less because people truly have it worse off than I.

P.S. I am raising money to be able to study abroad in Rome this coming August 2017. I have raised $200 so far, but am still very far away from my goal. I know it may seem like I am spending significant amounts of money but my friends family is very kind enough to pay for my stay and for that I am super grateful. So, if you would not mind sharing my link or even donating $5 I can reach my goal in no time. Thanks so much!

Travel Diary: Haiti Part 4

One thing I was able to see and understand was the history of how the people of Haiti and how Haiti came to be what it is today. They have a great museum that you should visit if you get the chance to go called, Museo National de Haiti. We also visited a nice little cafe on the grounds of the museum. That night we had dinner at Observatoire Bar and Restaurant which gives an amazing view of the city of Port-au-Prince.

What are some of your favorite museums where you are from? Comment below your city/country so I can check it out on my next adventure.

P.S. I am raising money to be able to study abroad in Rome this coming August 2017. I have raised $170 so far, but am still very far away from my goal. Travel Diary: Haiti Part 3

I absolutely love farms and while in Haiti I got to go to one. My friends family is currently building a farm in Léogâne and we got to visit the site. Studying Architecture I was so excited to go see how the construction was going. Farms and construction sites are two of my favorite things! Put them together and I am in heaven. Here are some pictures of my form of heaven.

If you know of any farms that are fun, drop them in the comments so I can visit them on my next traveling adventure.

Travel Diary: Haiti Part 2

We spent two days at a lovely resort; the Royal Decameron Indigo Beach Resort & Spa. It was nice to relax by the ocean and just leisurely read, sip on fresh coconut milk and soak in the sun.

Travel Diary: Haiti Part 1

Spring Break has begun and I am visiting with a friend in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. It has been a blast so far. The flight was quicker than when I go home to Ohio; I loved it. Here are some pictures from my first few hours in Haiti.

What's in my Carry-on?

IT'S SPRING BREAK!

Finally, it is now spring break and I felt like it would never come. I am going to Haiti this Spring Break with a friend and I thought it would be cool to show you all what I put in my carry-on.

These are my typical carry-on items. My JanSport backpack(school backpack) and my purple Michael Kors crossbody.

In no particular order, this is what I have in my backpack:

My planner because school is still important and my professors give homework during breaks and my laptop to do said homework.

In the event that I do get a bit of free time, like at the beach, then I like to pack a book. I am currently into books about bettering oneself. Astrology for the Soul helps you understand yourself through the stars which I find super interesting. Highly recommend giving it a read.

Make-up and three-ounce liquids! I find it much easier if you combine your make-up and mini toiletries into one small bag. Not only is it easy to get out if it needs to be checked by TSA but you can take a singular bag to the restroom if you have a long layover in an airport.

In my Michael Kors crossbody, I like to keep my forms of identification (passport and copy of passport) and my boarding pass. This really helps to make the checking a bag process go faster and the TSA check a little fast.

You can't forget the chargers. I have my laptop charger because I am bringing my laptop. I also take two wall chargers just in case I need to take one on the go because the portable charger has run out of juice (which happens often).

Some of these miscellaneous items are  in my backpack and crossbody. I have my glasses for those moments I want to see, my apartment key, some chapstick to keep these lips moist, blank cards that I use as 'Thank You Notes', headphones (more for the plane ride) and sunglasses.

I would say I have an average amount of belongings in my carry-on to make the plane ride that much nicer.

I  hope you had a great week this week and if you are also on spring break, I hope you are enjoying it. Comment below what you have in your carry-on when you travel.

February Favorites 2017

February, the shortest month but also one of my favorite months. Not only is it the month of love but it is also Black History Month. I love honoring those before myself and those currently who continue to promote change and fight for my rights. This makes Black History Month my first favorite of the month.

My next favorites are Sojos vision which has amazing sunglass styles and Neutrogena which has some of my favorite color sticks.

Sojos Vision sunglasses have become my latest obsession and I can thank my great friend Irvenie for getting them for me for Christmas. Not only are they stylish but they also act as shields if you are trying to check someone out.(kinda creepy) There are many different colors and styles to choose from. You can check out their link here.

My next favorite is the color sticks by Neutrogena. Not only do they last all night, but they also keep your lips moisturized. There are many shades and they are available at your local drugstore (CVS, Walgreens, etc.) The colors I have are (from top to bottom) Deep Plum, Berry Brown, Fresh Orchid, and Classic Red. The image below shows how they look with my skin tone.

That is all I have been loving this past month. If you have any favorites that you would recommend me try, let me know in the comments. I hope you all had a great February and that your March is even better.

P.S. I am raising money to be able to study abroad in Rome this coming August 2017. I have raised $150 so far, but am still very far away from my goal. If you would not mind sharing my link or even donating $5 I can reach my goal in no time.

Thanks so much!
